Christmas is a time with all sorts of family time, traditions, and of course, Christmas TV specials. Some of the most memorable Christmas themes can be derived from popular Christmas specials. Tonight we’ll focus on Charlie Brown’s Christmas Special, Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. Each of these quintessential Christmas special is extremely popular with all age groups and there are many ways to bring the magic of these movies to the comfort of your home and make a truly magical holiday gathering that everyone will remember and talk about every holiday season.
Charlie Brown’s Christmas Special
Maybe the most beloved Christmas special of all, Charlie Brown’s Christmas Special features a touching story, an iconic soundtrack, and of course, the saddest Christmas tree of all that becomes something beautiful in the end. To throw a party with this theme, first, you’ll want to find your very own Charlie Brown tree, something thin and ugly with a single red ball ornament on the top. The soundtrack should be playing in the background and snacks can be finger foods that make walking around and dancing like the Peanuts characters easy. At some point, the movie should be screened for the guests with a snack mix in a new red dog bowl resembling Snoopy’s.
Frosty the Snowman
A Frosty the Snowman party can be a fun time for everyone. Pretty much all people grew up singing the song that inspired this movie and will be tickled when they enter a party featuring the animated snowman. Snacks can be made very creatively with marshmallows, Snowballs, and even mashed potatoes embellished with a carrot nose; pretty much any white food that can be made into a snowman and be decorated. You can even make Frosty shaped cookies and allow guests to decorate them and then have a best decorated cookie contest. Of course, the night should be ended with a bowl of vanilla ice cream and a viewing of the movie. Decorations can include felt snowmen and top hats.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Like Frosty, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a popular Christmas song that became an equally popular show that is a holiday tradition for many families. If you were thinking of hosting a party based on Rudolph, you should keep in mind the entire extensive cast of characters including all of the reindeer, Santa and his elves, Yukon Cornelius, and the Abominable Snowman. Snacks can be based on this wide array of characters and will give you the opportunity to be extra creative. For the reindeer, you can make gingerbread cookies with pretzel antlers (including red M&M’s for the Rudolph’s!), ice cream for the Abominable Snowman, and little decorated sugar cookies for the elves, Yukon Cornelius, and Santa. All of the treats can be enjoyed while watching the movie.
As you can see, there are many options for a fun and family friendly Christmas movie themed holiday party. If you go the extra mile and decorate for the movie and provide themed snacks for watching the movies, the party will be incredibly memorable and talked about for years to come.
